Paul brings decades of clinical experience to helping patients understand their fertility and treatment options. He has a longstanding interest in complex infertility, including patients seeking a fresh perspective after unsuccessful treatment elsewhere.

Medical leadership and mentoring

Paul remains closely involved in care across Coastal IVF. Alongside seeing his own patients, he provides senior clinical oversight and supports the doctors, nurses and embryologists in planning and reviewing treatment. His role includes:

• Oversight of fertility cycles: overseeing treatment across the clinic and supporting individualised clinical decisions.
• Regular team reviews: chairing meetings where the medical and laboratory teams discuss complex cases and treatment plans.
• Training and mentorship: sharing his experience and helping the clinic’s doctors develop their fertility expertise.
• Continuity of clinical care: working alongside the team so patients benefit from shared knowledge and an informed, consistent approach.

A history of innovation on the Sunshine Coast

Paul founded Coastal IVF in 1996, establishing the Sunshine Coast’s first IVF clinic with embryologist Peter Jackson. He developed a locally based service with its own IVF laboratory, bringing specialist consultations, investigations and fertility treatment together. The clinic has remained privately owned and run, with personalised care at its centre.

His contributions include:

• Advances in fertility treatment: including developing access to embryo genetic testing (PGT), offered at Coastal IVF since 2002.
• Early adoption of keyhole surgery: becoming one of the first gynaecologists in Queensland to perform laparoscopic hysterectomies.
• Extensive micro-laparoscopy experience: performing over 1,000 procedures using ultra-fine 2 mm instruments.

Today, Paul focuses on consultations, fertility treatment and medical leadership, with his experience continuing to guide the clinic he founded.
