Vasectomy

Had a vasectomy?

If you have had a vasectomy, there is no need to have a reversal to obtain sperm for IVF.
In a simple 15 minute procedure called a Testicular Sperm Aspitation (TESA), we perform a fine needle biopsy under a local anaesthetic to obtain sperm to perform Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) on your partner’s eggs.

For more information, please visit Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection.

When do I seek advice about our fertility?

If any of these apply to you then please make an appointment to see us at Coastal IVF as soon as possible.

  1. Have you been trying to conceive for more than 6 months?
  2. Have you been diagnosed with endometriosis?
  3. Has your partner had a vasectomy?
  4. Are you over the age of 35?
  5. Is your menstrual cycle more than 30 days or less than 26 days?

Women:

  • over the age of 35 should not put off investigation of their fertility more than 6 months
  • over the age of 38 should seek help immediately
  • who do not menstruate regularly are often not ovulating and should seek advice early

Did you know? Failure to conceive is often the only symptom of endometriosis.

Early investigation means early diagnosis and more effective treatments.
